PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADING SYSTEM
This grading system works on a point deduction process. Students
start with 1,000 points or 100% for the entire semester and points will
be deducted for various reasons from two grading categories. The two
grading categories are Participation and Assessment. This
grading system is used for all classes offered at PCFC.
Participation Points and Deduction (700 Total Points)
Daily Points: 500
Points
*500 Points are earned by participating in class and putting
out reasonable effort consistently
Daily
Participation:
-60 pts
UN-excused absences
-25 pts Excused absences***
-10/20 pts Tardies (-10 for the first three, -20
after three)
-25 pts School related absence***
-10/20 pts Poor physical effort during class activities
Safety:
-20/60 pts Horseplay, reckless with equipment, careless
behavior,
overly aggressive/confrontational, fighting in class
Miscellaneous:
-10 pts Eating in class, on fields, in weight room without
permission
-10/60 pts Leaving class without permission
(truancy)
-10 pts Using profanity
*** Points can only be earned back from an Excused Absence and School
Related Absence
PE Uniform: 200 Points
*200 Points are earned by suiting down in appropriate
clothing throughout the semester
Uniforms:
-60 pts
Non suit- 1 free day per semester
-25 pts Excused non suit (sick or injured with a note from
physician or parent/guardian; after three days you must have a note from
a physician) - must be made up by end of the semester via a PE Make Up
session only
Assessment Points and Deduction Criteria (300 Total Points)
Baseline Fitness
Testing: 50 Total Points
*50 Points
are earned by successfully completing four fitness tests
(10 points per test and 10 for reflection)
Mid Term: 50 Points
*50 Points
are earned by successfully maintaining or improving upon your previous
fitness scores
(10
points per test and 10 for reflection)
Final: 100 Points
*100 Points are earned by successfully maintaining or
improving upon your previous fitness scores
(25 points per test)
Portfolio: 100 Total
Points
*20 Points are earned by successfully completing the
Partner Mile Worksheet
*20 Points are earned by successfully recording your
personal Fitness Scores throughout the semester
*60 Points are earned by successfully completing the Final
Written Test
PE Make-Up Sessions
You can only earn your
points back by attending a scheduled PE Make Up session that is
supervised by one of the Physical Education teachers on campus! You are
responsible to make your schedule work around the dates we provide you.
Please note that these sessions are thirty minutes and the objective is
to get a cardiovascular workout that is self-paced.
How many points do I earn by participating in a session? You can make up
to 50 points (5 laps equals 25 points).
What will I be doing during the session? You will run, walk, or jog 5
or 10 laps during the session. Modifications to required activity may be
necessary due to weather and injury.
Can I bank points for the future? Yes.
