WASL InformationWashington public school students have four statewide high school graduation requirements: earn state and local course credits; complete a “High School and Beyond Plan”; complete a “Culminating Project”; and meet the state’s reading, writing and math standards. Meeting the state’s reading, writing and math standards starts with students taking the High School Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) in those subject areas. Most students take the High School WASL as 10th-graders. But we know some students are ready to take and pass these tests as ninth-graders, so we like to give them the option to do so. If your child wants to take the High School WASL this spring, here is what you need to know:
Ninth-graders who want to take the spring 2008 High School WASL need to register between Dec. 10, 2007 and Jan. 14, 2008. Go to: www.k12.wa.us/waslregistration to register online with OSPI. Toll-free phone registration is available by calling: 1.866.400.WASL (9275). Before registering, you will need your student’s SSID number. Most students have their 10 digit SSID number printed directly above their barcode on their student ID card. If they don’t have a 10 digit SSID number on their student ID card, you can contact Robin Stearns in the PCFC Counseling Office at (425)837-5912. The 2008 WASL Testing Schedule is now available. If you have Internet access and would like to look at questions that have been on the High School WASL, please visit: http://www.k12.wa.us/Assessment/WASL/testquestions.aspx. Please contact Condee Holbrook, Assistant Principal at (425)837-5902 if you have any questions about the WASL testing at PCFC. We’re here to help you and want your child to be successful. |
