A guide to attendance procedures
- When your student is absent, please either call the attendance line at 425-837-5906, or send them in with a note the day they come back to school. They must come to the attendance office when they return from an absence to pick up an “admit to class” slip to return to classes.
- If the absence becomes more than one day, please do call so we have on record that it is an excused absence.
- If you call, please leave your name, who you are in relation to the student, spell the student’s last name, the date of the absence, and the reason.
- If your student arrives late to school for any reason, please send them in with a note. All students arriving late must sign IN and pick up an “admit to class” slip. Failure to so will result in disciplinary action.
- If a student needs to leave school for any reason, please send them in with a note so they can come to the attendance office first thing in the morning to sign out for the designated time, and receive an early dismissal slip. They can then meet the parent outside at the time arranged. It is very difficult to “call” a student down to the office, unless it is an emergency. By sending them in with the note in the morning, that process can be eliminated.
- All students must sign OUT before leaving campus, and have parent permission. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
- Please do not come into the main office for signing IN/OUT, or for admit slips. Students use the Attendance office window in the Commons.
- Missing more than 15 minutes of class, beginning, middle, or end, is considered an absence, unless it is school related.
- Students are allowed up to 10 absences, EXCUSED or UNEXCUSED in any class per semester. If they exceed 10, they will lose credit in that class and have to go through the appeal process. Letters are sent home at 5,7 and 11 day absences. Call the attendance line if you have any questions about this process.
- Automated phone calls will go home each night to notify parents about any absences that day that were not excused in any way through the attendance office.
- If a student is expected to miss 3 or more consecutive days due to illness or injury, a homework request can be called in to the Attendance office.
- If any family trips require missed class time, they must be pre-arranged through the attendance office. The student must pick up a form there, and have all their teachers sign it, and then have the parents sign. This form must be returned to the office at least one full school week before the first absence in order to be excused. If a vacation is taken, and not pre-arranged, the absence(s) will be unexcused.
- All students are responsible for clearing up any unexcused absences.
